Villa El Real
When a client is a chartered structural engineer, you know the eye is keen and the expectation is high!
These clients chose ProMas Building to refurbish their new holiday home in Marbella after a lot of background research.
Accountability
At first, the client only asked ProMas to build a new swimming pool and planned to use a variety of other trades to complete additional work that needed doing to the property. After some initial meetings with the ProMas, however, it became clear that for reasons of continuity and accountability, it would be much better if there was only one company responsible for all works undertaken. It is very difficult deciding who you can trust to complete such an extensive building project, especially when you are out of the country. You do not have the benefit of hindsight. You do not want to ripped off or wait an unreasonable amount of time for the project to reach completion because you are not there to keep an eye on things. In the end, the client asked ProMas to take on the complete renovation. If you scroll down to the testimonial below, you can see for yourself that they were more than happy with this decision.
The Brief
The brief was to connect the ground floor and first floor. Previously, they were two distinct apartments with separate entrances and no internal stairs. The whole layout needed a rethink; upstairs was to become five bedrooms, four with en-suite, a cloakroom and a living room and downstairs was to become a large open plan kitchen/dining/living room, and an 80m² games room with pool table, bar and TV area.
Outside
Externally, part of the roof was to be removed in order to create 100m² of terrace for sunbathing, sun downers and drinking in the view. The garden was crying out for a swimming pool and adjoining this would be an outdoor kitchen, housing all the necessary gadgets; a fridge, bar-b-q, wine cooler, sink, cupboards, shelves, as well as, a comfortable dining area and sofas for reclining. To improve on privacy, the walls around the property needed raising.
Swimming Pool
The stunning infinity pool is probably the highest specification swimming pool we have ever built. Firstly it is heated, quite uncommon for this area of the world but extremely worth doing if you can afford it as it lengthens it’s use from five months to all year round. The clients opted for a salt water pool instead of it being heavily chlorinated. This is gentle on the skin and much less salty than sea water. It has a jacuzzi area with seating for 12 people with water jets designed to massage your back and thighs. And for ease of maintenance, it has an electric cover. Perfect!

Testimonial
"We met Andy about 18 months ago after researching which company in Marbella would be capable of refurbishing our new holiday home in Spain. Andy is a true gentleman and his work force are a credit to him and his business. We would fully recommend Andy for any building project as he is both engaging and knowledgeable as are all of his subcontractors. Our experience was incredible and the outcome even better. The product and finish is second to none and this is coming from a very knowledgeable client with 30 plus years as a chartered structural and chartered building and civil engineer who has worked all over the world and has also knowledge of costs and design. Andy is now a friend and someone we respect."
