Villa Guadalmina

Our lovely clients from Germany were keen to update their Andalusian villa.

Having that keen eye for detail and intent on hiring a company that could meet their exacting standards, this couple asked to view other completed projects before deciding on the right company to renovate their villa.

Choosing your Builder

During these viewings, the clients were able to see for themselves the standard of workmanship, quality of construction and attention to detail in the finish of the completed projects.  They were also able to talk to the owners and ask them what the builder/client relationship was like, whether projects were completed according to the brief and if they came in on time or not. Suitably impressed, they instructed ProMas Building to undertake the complete remodelling of their villa, inside and out.

Making sense of the internal space

The property was over 40 years old and the internal layout simply did not work.  You had to walk from the entrance down a narrow corridor, past bedrooms and a kitchen in order to find the living room at the back. Despite a lack of connection both inside and out, there was a lot to like about the style of this old Andalusian villa. The authentic Spanish roof tiling and the centralised position of the property in its generous plot, gave the architects a solid starting point.  They began by moving the entrance to the centre of the house where the garage used to be, making a beautiful hallway and cloakroom.  To the left of the hall they designed an open plan kitchen, dining and living room. The right became the bedroom wing, each bedroom having an en-suite and patio doors.  This enabled the bedrooms to look out onto the garden.

Creating a usable outdoor space

Outside nothing worked. The garden was sloping in all directions so the clients could never use a table and chairs other than on the terrace.  The architects, in collaboration with the clients, decided to create five different areas in which to enjoy the grounds.  Firstly, retaining walls were built to make two flat areas.  The courtyard was modernised to connect to the house. A decking area was built around the palm trees and a more generous swimming pool was built with sleek new tiling, creating a beautiful place to sunbathe and relax.

Cocktails and Palm Trees

Our clients knew what they wanted from the start of this project in December.  By September, they were swimming in a beautiful new pool, supping cocktails under palm trees and dining alfresco on the terrace.  It is safe to say that their villa has been completely modernised yet still retains that wonderful Andalusian charm.  We wish them many years of enjoyment in their wonderful new home.
